In honor of National Women’s Month and the upcoming International Women’s Day (on March 8, 2023), we are pleased to partner for a third year in a row with APIdays and their Women in APIs program to celebrate the expertise and talents of people in the Women In APIs community.
In 2021, we collaborated with APIdays to explore what being a member of the Women In APIs community has meant to key members, both personally and professionally. Last year, we expanded on the voices of people from underrepresented groups to showcase their API expertise and that of their teams.
But this year–the series comes with a twist. We’re taking our stories to the next level and bringing in conversations across the aisle. We’ve created a conversation space for a variety of different professionals in the space to share their differing perspectives on how they’re viewing trends, culture, developer experience, and D&I efforts. Whether it’s professionals who were new to the API space with seasoned veterans, women with male allies, or entry-level developers and senior technology leaders together, this season was all about shedding light on new perspectives.
We brought together some of the most brilliant and creative minds of the Women in APIs community to have these conversations, and we’re hopeful it will spark a new perspective in those watching as well.
“We’re pleased to be working with the Stoplight team for a third year in a row to tell these stories and give a platform to those whose voices deserve to be amplified not just on International Women’s Day, but all year round,” shares Claire Barrett, Director of APIsFirst and co-lead of the Women in APIs program. “This year’s IWD theme is #EmbraceEquity. So these stories explore what makes a difference for people in their career choices and opportunities. The career choices that ultimately lead to much-needed greater equity in the tech industry as a whole.”
This Women’s Month, we point to the expertise that powerful leaders offer, and how to inspire more young women to get involved in APIs and the industries around them. There is no one path to an API career, but there are a lot of resources, mentors, and places out there.
